Julie Sullivan is an accomplished hospice quality and compliance executive with more than 35 years of experience helping hospice organizations improve clinical quality, strengthen regulatory compliance, and achieve operational excellence. As both a Registered Nurse and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C), Julie brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective that enables her to evaluate hospice care through both the clinical and psychosocial lens while helping organizations deliver exceptional, patient-centered care.
Throughout her distinguished career, Julie has served in senior leadership positions dedicated to quality, compliance, and documentation integrity, including National Director of Quality and Field Compliance, Director of Quality, and Director of Quality, Integrity, and Compliance. She has led enterprise-wide compliance initiatives, directed quality improvement programs, supported accreditation and regulatory surveys, and partnered with hospice leaders to develop sustainable systems that improve clinical performance and organizational accountability.
As a Consultant with Hospice Support Specialists, Julie specializes in Medicare regulatory compliance, documentation integrity, quality improvement, survey readiness, government audit response, clinical auditing, and leadership education. She has extensive experience supporting hospice organizations through TPEs, ADRs, and other Medicare contractor reviews while helping providers strengthen documentation, improve interdisciplinary team performance, and reduce regulatory risk. Her thoughtful, practical approach helps organizations transform regulatory expectations into meaningful improvements in patient care and operational performance.
Julie is recognized for her exceptional attention to detail, analytical approach, and passion for mentoring clinical teams. She has developed comprehensive audit programs, collaborated on responses to state and accreditation surveys, identified trends that drive quality improvement, and educated leaders and clinicians on documentation practices that support both compliance and high-quality hospice care. Her ability to combine regulatory expertise with compassionate clinical insight has made her a trusted advisor to hospice organizations seeking lasting improvements in quality and performance.
Julie earned her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Maryland, her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Bowie State University, and her Associate Degree in Nursing from Prince George’s Community College. Her uncommon combination of nursing, social work, quality leadership, and compliance expertise allows her to help hospice organizations build stronger interdisciplinary teams, enhance documentation integrity, and confidently navigate today’s increasingly complex regulatory environment.
